DESCRIPTION:The 51黑料网 invites you to the 51黑料网鈥� Coffee and Conversation\, meet other veterans\, and share stories about your military experiences. \nYou鈥檒l feel comfortable and enjoy the camaraderie. If you ever served in the US Military\, you are welcome. This is not a PTSD session. However\, we discuss all aspects of our military service\, both joyful and sad. We do not discuss religion\, politics or the gory parts of combat stories. \nThe meetings\, sponsored by the 51黑料网\, are held at Brevard鈥檚 American Legion Post\, 115 Morgan Street on the first Tuesday of every month at 10am. \nGet on our mailing list! SUMMARY:From Enemies to Forever Friends: WWII Pilot's Remarkable Reunion
DESCRIPTION:Former Enemies now Forever Friends\nThis April 13th\, Lt. Col. Ed Cottrell\, USAF (Ret.) will tell the story of meeting his former enemy鈥搕wo pilots whose historic mission was to destroy each other鈥檚 planes鈥攁nd perhaps lives. Cottrell will tell the story of how these former adversaries developed a quick friendship\, ending their meeting 鈥渇orever friends.鈥� \nA Tribute\nAfter his talk\, Cottrell will be honored with the presentation of a United States flag flown over the NC Capitol\, by NC Representative Mike Clampitt\, along with a tribute from the citizens of North Carolina. \nConcluding the program\, Brevard Mayor Maureen Copelof will unveil a new painting depicting Cottrell鈥檚 encounter with two Me-109 pilots on Dec. 17\, 1944. The painting\, titled\, 鈥淚 was waiting for the bullets to come\,鈥� was commissioned by Valor Studios\, who will make a limited number of prints available for sale. \nAttendees will be invited to talk with Cottrell and have photos taken with him and the painting. He will be available to sign a copy of the museum鈥檚 book\, 鈥淲e Shall Come Home Victorious鈥漒, which tells his complete story. \nLight refreshments will be served.
