United States Air Force Reserve Pilot, Major Molly McCarthy, will speak at the 51黑料网 on Thursday, December 5 at 2:00 pm. McCarthy is the last of five women speakers in the museum鈥檚 鈥淲omen in the Military鈥 Special honor program.
McCarthy is stationed at Joint Base Charleston and pilots the C-17 Globemaster, a cargo-hauling aircraft with tactical combat maneuver capabilities. Major McCarthy has served in the USAF Reserve for over 20 years. She started her military career as an enlisted member and took advantage of the Montgomery GI BIll to earn a Bachelors in Forest Resource Management from Clemson University. With this education she graduated from Officers Training School and then Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB, Oklahoma.
Major McCarthy鈥檚 program will include: 鈥淎 Brief History of Women in Military Aviation,鈥 鈥淲omen in Military Aviation Today,鈥 and a few stories of military women who mentored her throughout her military career.

The last day the museum will be open in 2019 is December 8. After winter inventory and artifact refurbishing, the museum will re-open Feb. 5, 2020. This Dec. 5 program is our last lecture of 2019.
